Krysta Ortiz is a dance artist born and raised in Odessa, Texas. Her dance journey began in a non-competitive dance studio where she trained in several genres of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. Ortiz graduated from Odessa High School where she danced for the Odessa High Showgirls and served as captain. While on the team, she had the opportunity to train with various dance artists in the industry, perform/compete in different states, and attend dance conventions. Her passion for movement and kinesthetic awareness led her to pursue a Bachelors of Arts degree in Dance with a minor in Kinesiology at the University of North Texas (UNT). There, she engaged in performances, auditions, choreographic opportunities, and served as the Dance Ambassador for the UNT Dance Department. Her most recent choreographic work “Sweet Indulgence” was also selected to be adjudicated in the 2023 American College Dance Association. She shares appreciation for all styles of dance, but specializes in freestyle and contemporary-fusion movement. Ortiz is currently a performer with Transcend Motion and Jordan Fuchs company where she continues to push artistic boundaries. She has also discovered interest in the healthcare industry and is now training to become an RDA where she can further impact the lives of others. Ortiz now looks forward to presenting her new choreographic work in season 4 of Transcend Motion.
